As a member of the Oregon Nurses Association, I support the establishment of an Office of the National Nurse. The integrative, holistic character of nursing education provides a unique perspective on the complicated, patchwork mix of private insurance and government programs that comprise our current health care system.
1 in 6 people in Oregon and 15.7 percent of the American population have no health insurance. Instead of dividing us into the haves and have-nots, health care coverage should be extended to all. With the National Nurse Teams in place, every member of the community will have equal access to the free educational programs on prevention.
